PAHO Rolls Out Cycle II of Artificial Intelligence in Health Program Across the Region

Dated: February 13, 2026

On February 12, 2026, in Washington, D.C., the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) launched Cycle II on Artificial Intelligence in Health as part of its Certified Webinar Series under the Digital Literacy Program. The initiative aims to strengthen the digital capabilities of the health workforce across the Region of the Americas by enhancing knowledge and practical skills in emerging technologies.

Coordinated by the Information Systems and Digital Health Unit within the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health, the new cycle focuses on the strategic use of artificial intelligence in public health. It addresses practical applications, ethical considerations, and the role of AI in supporting evidence-based decision-making within health systems, helping countries advance their digital transformation agendas responsibly.

The program is offered in a virtual, self-paced, and certifiable format, providing a structured learning pathway for health professionals, managers, technical teams, and decision-makers. It supports participants in understanding how artificial intelligence tools can optimize health information analysis, strengthen public policy planning, improve the quality and timeliness of care, and promote responsible technological innovation in health.

The training content features regional case studies, practical experiences, and conceptual frameworks designed to facilitate the effective application of artificial intelligence across diverse health contexts in the Americas.
