Rwandan entrepreneur Bonheur Iraguha is contributing to Rwanda’s growing startup ecosystem through SomaPix, an AI-powered photo platform designed to help users quickly find their photos from large event image collections.
Founded in 2025, SomaPix addresses a common challenge faced by people attending weddings, conferences, sports competitions, family gatherings and other major events. At such events, hundreds or thousands of photos are often captured, making it difficult for participants to locate the images in which they appear. SomaPix offers a simple digital solution by using image-recognition technology to identify and retrieve personal photographs from extensive event galleries.
The platform works through a user-friendly process. A user uploads a reference photograph, which acts as a visual template. SomaPix then uses its algorithm to analyze the event’s image database and identify photographs where the user appears. Once the images are retrieved, users can view, purchase, download or share them directly through the platform.
SomaPix also enables users to find group photographs, helping event participants rediscover shared memories with friends, relatives, colleagues and other attendees. This feature makes the platform useful not only for individual photo discovery but also for reconnecting people with moments captured during important events.
By combining artificial intelligence with event photography, SomaPix reflects the growing role of technology-driven solutions in Rwanda’s digital economy. The platform shows how local innovation can respond to everyday needs while creating new opportunities for users, photographers and event organizers.
Bonheur Iraguha’s work extends beyond digital photography. He is also active in education technology and youth innovation. In 2023, he founded Posinnove Tech, an education technology startup where he serves as chief executive officer. The company focuses on bridging the gap between traditional academic curricula and the digital skills required by private-sector employers.
Through Posinnove Tech, Iraguha aims to equip young people with practical competencies that are more closely aligned with labor market demands. His work in education technology highlights the importance of preparing youth for employment, entrepreneurship and participation in the modern digital economy.
Iraguha also co-organizes Hack With Me, an annual 24-hour programming hackathon created exclusively for high school students. The initiative supports youth participation in technology and innovation by giving students an opportunity to develop programming skills, solve problems and engage with practical digital challenges.
His professional journey reflects a growing commitment to entrepreneurship, education and technology. He began his career in 2022 as a customer service officer at IBomis, an organization that supports high school graduates with academic orientation. In 2023, he became an ambassador for Lifesten Health, and in 2024, he became an ambassador for BAG, further expanding his involvement in technology-focused initiatives.
Later in 2024, Iraguha gained international exposure by joining StArfrica as a trainee consultant. The project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, works to strengthen connections between African startups and Germany while enhancing Germany’s attractiveness as a destination for African entrepreneurs and technology ventures.
Bonheur Iraguha’s growing portfolio shows how young entrepreneurs are helping shape Rwanda’s innovation landscape. Through SomaPix, Posinnove Tech and Hack With Me, he is contributing to digital transformation, youth empowerment and the development of practical technology solutions.
SomaPix stands out as an example of how artificial intelligence can be used to solve real-life challenges in creative industries such as event photography. By making it easier for users to locate, access and share their photos, the platform adds value to event participants while supporting the wider growth of Rwanda’s startup ecosystem.
As Rwanda continues to build its reputation as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs like Bonheur Iraguha are playing an important role in advancing locally developed technology solutions. His work demonstrates the potential of combining artificial intelligence, education technology and youth innovation to create meaningful impact across the digital economy.
